Aluminium façade and sun shading for a school gym in Dronero

REQUEST INFORMATION

Ventilated façade and aluminium sun-shading systems for the gym of the Hospitality Institute in Dronero, designed by Studio Soave with ForMe Design Cladding and Battens 50 systems.

The gym of the Hospitality Institute in Dronero, in the province of Cuneo, is a public project where aluminium cladding and shading systems help define the architectural identity of the building, combining solar control, durability and compositional continuity.

Designed by Studio Soave, the project uses two ForMe Design systems with complementary functions: Cladding, applied to the external walls in the Ezy Sand Ash finish, and Battens 50, used as a sun-shading system with 50×100 and 50×150 profiles in RAL finish.

The combination of wood-effect surfaces, dark volumes and vertical rhythms creates an essential, contemporary architectural language, consistent with the building’s public and sports function and with the mountain setting in which it is located.

The walls clad with SKIN Cladding define a warm, orderly elevation, helping to lighten the perception of the volume and enhance the entrances. The Ezy Sand Ash finish evokes the natural appearance of wood while maintaining the performance benefits of aluminium in terms of stability, durability and reduced maintenance.

One of the key aspects of the project was respecting the original architectural design developed by Studio Soave. The alternation of 100 and 150 mm Battens 50 profiles was designed to preserve the geometric rhythm and compositional layout defined during the design phase, transforming the sun-shading system into an integral element of the building’s architectural language.

The vertical shading system therefore does not only perform a technical function, protecting the glazed surfaces from solar exposure, but also contributes to the depth of the façade, the relationship between solid and void, and the construction of the project’s visual identity.

In the Dronero gym project, Cladding and Battens 50 demonstrate how aluminium cladding systems can meet the needs of contemporary public architecture, integrating aesthetic quality, technical control and durability into a single solution.

Aluminium ensures structural lightness, dimensional stability and resistance to weathering, characteristics that are particularly relevant in mountain environments subject to significant temperature fluctuations and high exposure to external agents.

DFV finishes also contribute to the durability of the project thanks to certified processes for exterior architectural applications, ensuring aesthetic quality and long-lasting surface resistance.
