Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Comprehensive engineering, specification, and installation answers for ForMe Design architectural extruded aluminum rainscreen facades, soffits, and acoustic battens.

Welcome to the ForMe Design Technical Knowledge Base.

Here you will find official technical guidance and engineering data regarding our 100% solid extruded aluminum systems. Designed and manufactured in Italy by DFV Group, our architectural profiles combine non-combustible fire performance (ASTM E84 Class A / EN 13501-1 Class A1), proprietary concealed snap-in fastening, and ultra-durable wood-grain sublimation finishes guaranteed for up to 15 years.
Whether you are detailing a high-rise exterior rainscreen, specifying 3-Part CSI MasterFormat documents, or ordering project samples, select a technical category below to explore certified answers.

Technical Performance, Fire Safety & Materials

ForMe Design extruded aluminum profiles are 100% solid non-combustible metal, rated ASTM E84 Class A (Flame Spread Index 0, Smoke Developed Index < 10) and EN 13501-1 Class A1 in Europe. As detailed in our technical data sheets, they contain zero combustible polyethylene cores, meeting non-combustibility criteria for multi-story exterior envelopes and complying with NFPA 285.

All profiles are precision-extruded from primary architectural alloy 6060 T6 / 6063 T6 (Al Mg-Si). This metallurgical temper delivers high tensile strength, exceptional yield resistance against extreme wind loads, tight dimensional tolerances, and optimal bonding for powder coating and wood-grain sublimation.

Yes. Certified to Qualicoat Seaside and AAMA 2605 standards, ForMe Design finishes undergo automated pre-anodization and electrostatic powder coating. They withstand over 1,000 hours of acetic salt spray, preventing filiform corrosion, chalking, and UV degradation in harsh marine atmospheres.

ForMe Design systems (including engineered SKIN Battens 50 and interlocking SKIN Cladding) are tested to withstand extreme wind pressures exceeding 2,500 Pa (52+ psf) positive and negative loads, eliminating wind whistle and panel disengagement on high-rise commercial facades.

Installation Systems, Concealed Fastening & Ventilated Rainscreens

No. ForMe Design systems utilize a proprietary concealed snap-in clip mechanism. The extruded aluminum planks and battens snap securely onto pre-punched structural sub-tracks, creating clean monolithic surfaces with zero exposed surface screws, rivets, or fasteners.

Yes. Purpose-engineered for drained and back-ventilated exterior rainscreen facades (CSI MasterFormat 07 42 13 / 07 42 93), the systems integrate over continuous exterior insulation. The rear air cavity promotes chimney-effect convection, cutting thermal bridging and expelling moisture.

Yes. The modular substructure supports vertical, horizontal, diagonal, and suspended ceiling/soffit configurations. Architects can maintain uninterrupted material continuity flowing seamlessly from exterior facades through exterior canopies and into interior ceilings.

Mounting brackets integrate precision fixed anchoring points and sliding expansion slots accommodating aluminum's thermal expansion coefficient (~1.2 mm/m for a 50°C / 90°F delta). This prevents oil canning, buckled joints, and structural stress throughout extreme weather cycles.

DFV Group Wood-Look Finishes, Colors & Maintenance

Wood grain finishes utilize the patented high-definition dye sublimation technology of DFV Group. Natural wood grain pigments thermo-transfer deep into polyurethane powder coating, uniting natural timber aesthetics with non-combustible, rot-proof aluminum durability.

Yes. Purpose-engineered for drained and back-ventilated exterior rainscreen facades (CSI MasterFormat 07 42 13 / 07 42 93), the systems integrate over continuous exterior insulation. The rear air cavity promotes chimney-effect convection, cutting thermal bridging and expelling moisture.

ForMe Design architectural claddings are virtually maintenance-free. Unlike exterior timber, they never require re-staining, oiling, sanding, or pesticide sealers. Periodic cleaning simply involves washing with low-pressure water and mild non-abrasive pH-neutral detergent.

Exterior finishes carry up to a 15-year comprehensive manufacturer warranty against peeling, cracking, blistering, and excessive UV fading, certified strictly in accordance with Qualicoat Seaside and AAMA 2605 performance criteria.

Sustainability, Circular Economy & LEED / BREEAM Credits

Yes. High recycled content, zero VOC off-gassing, and envelope efficiency allow ForMe Design systems to directly earn credits under LEED v4/v4.1 (Materials & Resources, Energy & Atmosphere), BREEAM, and WELL green building rating programs.

Yes. Aluminum is a 100% infinitely recyclable permanent material that retains all mechanical properties upon recycling. Remelting recycled aluminum consumes merely 5% of the energy required for primary smelting, cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 95%.

Systems weigh only 0.7 to 1.7 lbs/sq.ft (3.5 to 8.5 kg/m²) depending on profile geometry and spacing. Compared to heavy masonry, terracotta, or fiber cement panels, aluminum slashes dead loads by up to 70%, accelerating installation and cutting anchoring costs.

Profiles are field-cut on site using standard miter chop saws equipped with carbide-tipped non-ferrous blades (trapezoidal tooth geometry). Cuts remain crisp, clean, and burr-free without chipping or peeling the powder coat or sublimated grain finish.

Global Distribution, Samples & Architectural Support

All ForMe Design systems are 100% engineered, extruded, and finished in Italy at the Surano (Lecce) manufacturing hub of DFV Group. Complete vertical integration ensures direct quality control from primary billet extrusion through automated finishing and export.

Architects, designers, and contractors can order material sample kits directly through our Sample Shop. Sample boxes include authentic extruded aluminum profile sections (Battens and Cladding) in specified timber grains and architectural colors.

Yes. Architects and specifiers have open access to our Technical Data Sheet & BIM Library featuring parametric BIM families (.rfa for Revit and IFC), 2D/3D CAD DWG construction details, and 3-Part CSI MasterFormat specifications.

In North America, ForMe Design is distributed by Omnis Panels (USA) and Exterior Technologies Group (Canada); South America is served by DFV Brasil Ltda. To connect with regional technical partners or request project pricing, use our contact & inquiry form.
